GANDERBAL, NOVEMBER 07: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore Friday flagged-off a group of 20 progressive farmers for seven days Horticulture training cum exposure visit under the ATMA Scheme (2025) to Dr. Y.S. Parmar University of Horticulture & Forestry, Nauni, Solan, Himachal Pradesh.

The step is aimed at empowering local farmers and strengthening the horticulture sector in the district.

Wishing the farmers a productive and enlightening journey, DC encouraged them to make the most of this learning opportunity.

Addressing the farmers, DC said that this visit is a golden opportunity for our farmers to experience first-hand how science and innovation can transform horticulture. “The knowledge you gain will not only uplift your own orchards but also inspire others across Ganderbal to adopt modern, sustainable practices,” he added.

The flag-off event was attended by Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Chief Horticulture Officer, Ganderbal, and the Horticulture Development Officer, Ganderbal, besides other officers.

During their stay at Dr. Y.S. Parmar University of Horticulture & Forestry, Nauni, Solan, the farmers will take part in interactive training sessions, live demonstrations, and field visits to model orchards and research farms. These hands-on experiences will expose them to advanced technologies, post-harvest management techniques, latest Pruning techniques and scientific methods that can significantly enhance fruit quality and yield back home in Kashmir.
