New Delhi, 05th January 2026: The Child Guidance Centre (CGC), functioning under the aegis of the Dr. Zakir Husain Memorial Welfare Society, Jami Millia Islamia observed World Braille Day on 05th January 2026 at its campus with the theme “Empowerment through Knowledge and Technology.”
The programme was organized under the guidance of Dr. Mohd. Faijullah Khan, Offg. General Secretary, Dr. Zakir Husain Memorial Welfare Society. During the session, staff members were briefed on the life and contributions of Louis Braille, the inventor of the Braille script. His extraordinary perseverance despite visual impairment led to the development of a revolutionary system of reading and writing that has significantly enhanced access to education and information for persons with visual disabilities.
The session also highlighted the role of modern assistive technologies, in conjunction with Braille, in empowering visually impaired individuals and promoting their independence and participation in society.
On the occasion, Mr. Naseem Ahmed, Project Director, Child Guidance Centre, emphasized the importance of awareness, inclusivity, and the effective use of knowledge and technology to create an enabling environment for persons with disabilities. He reiterated the Centre’s commitment to advancing equal opportunities and inclusive practices.
The observance of World Braille Day reflected the Child Guidance Centre’s continued efforts toward advocacy, sensitization, and empowerment of individuals with special needs through education, awareness, and supportive services.
