Stresses for timely submission of action plans to ensure prompt execution of works well in time
GANDERBAL, FEBRUARY 10: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore today chaired a review meeting here to assess the comprehensive action plan for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY)-2026.
During the meeting, detailed deliberations were held on action plans submitted by various departments, with a focused emphasis on strengthening service delivery and upgrading infrastructure to ensure a smooth and safe Yatra for pilgrims.
Key areas discussed included augmentation of healthcare facilities, sanitation, slide protection measures, parking arrangements, mobile connectivity, transport services, disaster preparedness, and other essential infrastructure components.
Officers from concerned departments apprised the chair of the status of their preparations and ongoing works related to SANJY-2026.
DC issued slew of directions to the concerned departments to augment necessary infrastructure to ensure seamless facilities to the pilgrims for smooth and safe yatra.
Directions were issued to undertake necessary repairs to power and water supply infrastructure on the Yatra track damaged due to rains and landslides, besides desilting and debris clearance along the track.
DC also issued instructions for proper maintainence of roads and parking areas in Base Camp besides proper barricading to ensure smooth movement of pilgrims and ponies.
To ensure smooth and uninterrupted operations, directions were issued for providing power backup for on-spot registration and RFID counters. Further, PHE Department was instructed to plan and augment water sources well in advance to avoid any shortage of water during Yatra.
Rural Development Department was also instructed to prepare a comprehensive sanitation and waste management plan and ensure adequate deployment of men and machinery.
In order to ensure hassle free connectivity, telecom authorities were directed to ensure adequate connectivity at the Base Camp and along the Yatra route.
DC stressed upon the officers to ensure timely submission of finalized action plans for early execution of works.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Syed Fahim Bihaqi; Chief Executive Officer, Sonmarg Development Authority; Additional Superintendent of Police; Superintending Engineer KPDCL, Superintending Engineer Jal Shakti; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Kangan, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Education Officer, Executive Engineers and officers and officials from various line departments.
