RAMBAN, MARCH 02: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Alyas Khan, the enforcement departments have launched an intensive market checking drive across Ramban, Banihal and Batote as well in other areas of the district.
Joint teams comprising officers from the Revenue Department, Municipal Committees (MCs), Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Legal Metrology and Food Safety are conducting regular inspections in markets to ensure the availability of essential commodities at notified rates and to keep check on profiteering and adulteration.
During the inspections, special emphasis was laid on checking rate lists, quality of food items, hygiene conditions, adherence to weighing protocols and preventing overcharging or hoarding. The teams are also verifying the calibration of weighing instruments and ensuring strict adherence to government-notified rates.
At key commercial areas, officials interacted with shopkeepers and instructed them to maintain transparency in pricing and uphold sanitation standards, especially when demand for essential goods increases.
The district administration issued strict directions to safeguard consumer interests and ensure the smooth supply of quality essential items. The checking drive will continue in the coming days to maintain market discipline and prevent any inconvenience to the public.
