March 24: In a significant initiative aimed at promoting sportsmanship and youth engagement, police in Ganderbal inaugurated the Martyr Inspector Mushtaq Ahmad Baba T-20 Cricket Tournament at Qamariya Stadium, Ganderbal under the Civic Action Program.
The tournament was formally inaugurated by SSP Ganderbal Shri Khalil Ahmad Poswal-JKPS, who was accompanied by Addl. SP Ganderbal Shri Owaise Loun-JKPS and DySP Headquarters Ganderbal Shri Umer Urfan-JKPS.
The inaugural match was played between Rising Star Baderkund vs Shallabugh Blasters. A total of 32 Teams from across the district are participating in the tournament, reflecting the enthusiasm and active involvement of local youth in sports activities.
On the occasion, SSP Ganderbal interacted with the participating teams and highlighted the importance of sports in fostering discipline, teamwork, and a positive mindset among youth. He emphasized that such initiatives not only provide a platform for young talent to showcase their skills but also serve as a constructive means to channel their energy towards productive pursuits.
The participating players expressed their gratitude towards Police for organizing the tournament and providing them with an opportunity to engage in healthy competition. The event witnessed an encouraging response from locals and sports enthusiasts, marking a vibrant beginning to the tournament.
Police reiterated its commitment to continue organizing such events to strengthen community-police relations and promote peace, harmony, and youth development in the district.
