DC Rajouri Chairs 43rd NCORD Meeting

Stresses multi-pronged action to strengthen Nasha Mukht Campaign

RAJOURI, MARCH 30: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma today chaired the 43rd meeting of the District Level NCORD (Narco Coordination Centre) Committee to review the progress on anti-drug initiatives in the district.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the Action Taken Report (ATR) on the decisions taken in the previous NCORD meeting and stressed the need for a result-oriented and coordinated approach to tackle the menace of drug abuse.

Emphasizing the importance of multi-pronged planning & action, the DC directed the Sub Divisional level officers to intensify efforts over the next three months with a focus on awareness, enforcement, screening, treatment & rehabilitation. He underlined that sustained and coordinated interventions at the grassroots level are essential to achieve the objectives of the Nasha Mukht Bharat campaign. The awareness activities shall be integrated with camps and outreach programmes being conducted by departments such as Revenue, Agriculture and others to ensure wider reach and impact,” he directed. He also called for active involvement of religious leaders in spreading awareness during religious gatherings, highlighting their crucial role in influencing societal behaviour.

To enhance outreach in rural areas, the Deputy Commissioner called for roping in sportspersons as influencers to connect with youth and promote anti-drug messaging. He also stressed the constitution of block-level teams for organizing skits focusing on drug abuse awareness under the Nasha Mukht Bharat initiative.

The meeting concluded with a reaffirmed commitment from all stakeholders to work in a mission mode to curb drug abuse and make Rajouri a drug-free district.

Senior Superintendent of Police Gaurav Sikarwar; Additional Deputy Commissioner Chander Prakash; ACD Auqil Naveed; DSWO Abdul Raheem; Chief Education Officer Mohd Hafeez; Chief Medical Officer Dr Manohar Lal Rana; Tehsildar Headquarters Insha Khalid and other district and sectoral officers attended the meeting.

Besides, ADCs of sub division Kotranka, Nowshera, Sunderbani and Kalakote, SDM Thanamandi Abid Hussain, along with the heads of  Government Colleges attended the meeting through virtual mode.
