Leh, March 31, 2026: The Horticulture Department, Union Territory of Ladakh, and National Co-operative Exports Limited (NCEL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote export of Ladakh’s agricultural and allied produce.
The MoU was executed by Mr. Tsewang Punchok, Director of Horticulture, UT Ladakh, and Mr.Unupom Kausik, Managing Director, NCEL, at the World Trade Centre, New Delhi. The Cooperative Department, UT Ladakh, will act as the coordinating agency to facilitate implementation.
Under the three-year agreement, the Horticulture Department will serve as the nodal agency to identify expor-worthy produce from cooperative societies, while NCEL will provide market linkages, capacity building, and support for processing and exports. The Cooperative Department will assist in coordination and strengthening the cooperative network.
The initiative aims to enhance value realization for farmers and promote Ladakh’s produce in national and international markets. The MoU also ensures transparency through direct payments to cooperatives where feasible.
A Joint Committee comprising representatives of the Horticulture Department, NCEL, and stakeholders will monitor implementation and submit periodic reports.
