There was some sort of improvement in numbers for PS-2 [Hindi] as Rs. 2.75 crores came in. On Friday, the film had collected Rs. 2 crores so it’s good to see a positive trajectory. That’s how things had turned out to be for the first part as well, though it had sustained well during the weekdays as well which had pushed its overall numbers past the Rs. 25 crores mark.
In case of PS-2 [Hindi], it would have to be seen where it eventually ends up as one would have expected a much bigger lead considering the recall value of the first part. That should have ideally resulted in the film collecting close to double by now but the difference is just marginal since PS-1 had collected Rs. 2.50 crores on its first Saturday. There is not much of a competition either from Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan or any of the other newly released Bollywood films or the other Hollywood releases in the running, so one expects Sunday to be bigger.
The Mani Ratnam film had collected Rs. 4.75 crores so far and had this been the first day number then it would pretty much have been the ‘game on’ moment. However, as is pretty evident in the current times, it’s becoming increasingly difficult for the films to collect. One hopes though that PS-2 sees a much greater momentum since apart from being a truly big screen spectacle, it’s also a much more entertaining film than the first part and hence deserves to be watched by a larger section of audiences not just in the original but also the dubbed Hindi version.
