Srinagar, Feb 09 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir Road Transport Corporation (JKRTC) has facilitated over 25,000 devotees including 15000 on Friday to reach Dargah (Hazratbal) from different parts of the Valley in the last three days on Mehraj-Ul-Alam, said an official.
On Friday, thousands of people reached Dargah to have a glimpse of the holy relic of Prophet Mohammad (SAW) at the revered shrine. The Asar-e-Sharief Hazratbal on the bank of Dal Lake holds immense religious significance for the people in the region
A senior official from JKRTC told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that during the past three days they pressed men and machinery into service to ensure smooth movement of devotees with over 15,000 worshippers facilitated to Dargah Hazratbal from various parts of the Valley on Friday alone.
“This effort follows a similar pattern over the preceding days, with more than 9,000 devotees recorded to have boarded RTC buses on February 8th, and over 1000 devotees on the day of Shab-e-Mehraj”, the official said.
Officials said that Srinagar witnessed a flurry of activity as 176 buses were pressed into service exclusively for transporting devotees within the city limits during the last three days.
Additionally, beyond the routine bus services, JKRTC officials said that they deployed additional buses across other districts of Kashmir to ensure the seamless mobility of the worshippers.
“This concerted effort extended far beyond the city, with a total of 390 buses deployed across Kashmir to ensure smooth to and fro movement of devotees”, said officials.
The official added that the special bus service was further exemplified by the staggering 550 trips made by their buses during the past three days, with stationing of special information counters in the city for the seamless movement of buses and comfort to devotees during their travel.
