12th-class student from Ganderbal writes ‘Some Black Pages’

A 17-year-old from the Shalhar area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district has written “Some Black Pages” – a story of a girl who shares everything with a diary as she has no one to talk to.

Sania Zahra, daughter of Ghulam Mohammad Mir, is a 12th-class student at Higher Secondary School in the Sumbal area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

Talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Sania said she started writing at a very small age. “I used to write a diary from 5th class, then I used to write quotes and essays, and from 7th standard, I began writing stories also,” she said.

Her debut book “Some Black Pages” is a story of a girl who has made a diary for her best friend and shares every part of her life with it.

“My book is about the parents who compare their children with other children. They don’t think about the impact it has on their children as every child has his/her own capabilities and qualities; and due to comparison with others, a child first loses self-confidence, then interest in doing anything, and ultimately feels dejected,” Sania said.

She said that as a writer, her motive has been to change the thinking of parents who appreciate other kids in front of their own instead of appreciating them too. “I want to make them realise how much a child gets hurt by such an act and behavior by parents,” she said.

Talking about her family’s support, Sania said they have encouraged her all the time. “I want to give happiness to other people, and my dream of life is to become an author and In Sha Allah (Allah Willing), I will make it come true,” she said.

She further said, “If you want to do anything in your life, don’t think what others say. Do what you want to be, and make your actions speak rather than words.”

Sania shares one of her own quotes: “Yaha To Kisi Or Ke Liye Barsoo Sy Saath Rahne Vale Ko Be Bhulaya Jata Hai, Yaha To Kisi Or Ke Liye Barsoo Sy Saath Rahne Vale Ko Be Bhulaya Jata Hai, Malaal Kis Baat Ka Hum To Kl He Aya Thy.”

Meanwhile, “Some Black Pages” is available on Amazon and has been receiving good responses from readers—(KNO)
