Ganderbal sees 79 fire incidents, suffers over Rs 2 crore worth property loss in 2022

Ganderbal, Dec 31  Property worth over two cores was destroyed and around three to four dozen fire incidents reported in 2022 alone in Ganderbal district, official data revealed.

According to data, 79 fire incidents occurred in the district damaging property worth over Rs 2.11 crore (2, 11,15,500) was destroyed. But it also showed that Fire and Emergency Services were able to save property worth over Rs 13, 01,38500 in the same year.

Assistant Director Fire & Emergency Service, Ab Khaliq told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that four government buildings, 4 commercial buildings each, 31 houses, 18 tin sheds, 20 cow sheds, 17 shops, 2 vehicles, 11 electric transformers, haystacks 50 were damaged in fire.

In all these incidents, property worth over Rs 15, 12,54,000 was involved but they were able to save property worth over Rs 13.01,385000 by dousing fire, he added.

Khaliq said that one fire personnel received injuries while dousing fire at Kangan in April.

The data showed most fire incidents occurred in October and November—(KNO)
