74th Republic Day celebrated with enthusiasm & patriotic fervor across District Ganderbal

DDC Chairperson unfurls National Flag at Qamaria ground

GANDERBAL, JANUARY26: 74th Republic Day was today celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor across the district Ganderbal during which various programs were organized at district, Sub-district, tehsil and panchayat levels.

The main function was held at Qamaria ground Ganderbal where District Development Council (DDC) Chairperson Ganderbal, Nuzhat Ishfaq unfurled the National Flag and took salute at the parade.

The march-past was presented by the contingents of JKP, JKAP, CRPF, SSB, PTS Manigam, Forest Protection Force, SPO Ganderbal, District Police, Home Guard, Fire Service and students of various schools.
Besides a colorful cultural show was presented by the students who also
presented patriotic songs and folk dance.
In her address, while congratulating the people of Ganderbal, DDC Chairperson lauded the importance of Republic Day and said that the constitution of India distinguishes the country from other countries, the spirit of which provides equal rights to every resident of the country without discrimination of religion, nationality, color, race and caste, she added.

Highlighting the developmental scenario in the district, the DDC Chairperson said that a new era of development has begun in the district and new chapters of all-round development are emerging and new paths are being paved.

The priorities of the district administration include ensuring the safety of the people, providing all facilities, women’s empowerment, improving public health, finding new avenues for social welfare, she added.
Regarding the development and promotion of education department,
she said that the district administration has worked on the ground level to
reduce the level of illiteracy this year under the example of Mashal-e-Gash
program and provided basic education to our elder people so that they can be able to read and write to some extent to take advantage of banking and other business services.

Highlighting the initiatives taken for infrastructural development Nuzhat Ishfaq said that the government has approved 100 kanals of land  for the Government Architecture College in Safapora and we hope that this  college will be a game changer in the field of education and the educational structure of the district will reach its peak. Besides, Ministry of Ayush has  started three batches in Government Unani College and Hospital Navabagh Ganderbal, she added.

Highlighting the importance of roads in socio-economic development, Nuzhat Ishfaq said a network of roads is being laid for better public facilities and the district administration is making every possible effort to improve the condition of the roads and removal of all obstructions is in progress to make the roads more spacious and better adding that 156.83 km of roads were black topped under Public Works and PMGSY departments in the district In order to further improve the physical facilities at District Hospital she said that the Hospital has been upgraded and more essential facilities like Blood Bank and Dialysis Center have been established, which has brought a sigh of relief to the people.

The health department brought 100 percent of the families under the Ayushman Bharat scheme.

Underling the importance of Back To Village and My Town My Pride programs she said that 389 works have been implemented at the ground level in B2V, out of which 358 works have been completed so far.

The Department of Rural Development has implemented 2588 works under MGNREGA till now with an expenditure of 21.08 crores. She further said that the government has released the first installment for the reconstruction of 940 houses under PMAY (G), the second installment for 764 and the third installment for 45 houses respectively. Also, out of 2884 works under 14th FC, now 2843 works were completed and 83 works were completed under AMRIT SAROVAR this year, she added.

Highlighting the initiatives taken under Swatch Gram Abhiyan, DDC Chairperson said that Garbage collection is going on from all Panchayats and in this context it is important to mention that the district has beenawarded star category 2. She requested the people of Ganderbal to help the district administration in keeping the panchayat clean.

Furthermore, DDC Chairperson said that autonomy of Panchayat Raj institutions is among the priorities of the government and these institutions are being strengthened. In this regard, these representatives were also formally trained besides, plans are being prepared for councilors for the autonomy and empowerment of urban local bodies and its implementation Is also being done by them.

The function concluded with distribution of prizes among students and contingents who participated in March past and cultural programs. several officers/officials were also felicitated on the occasion for their exemplary work.

The event was witnessed by Deputy Commissioner, Shyambir, SSP Ganderbal, Nikhil Borkar, President Municipal Council Ganderbal, ADDC, ADC, DDC members, BDC Chairpersons, Municipal Councilors besides various officers and officials from Police, Army, CRPF and District Administration.
