National Conference Youth Leader Waqar Khan Demands Sadhna Tunnel On Kupwara-Tanghdar Highway
JK News Live

Kupwara, Feb 10; National Conference icon leader Waqar Khan has demanded sadhna tunnel on Kupwara-Tanghdar highway to ease out the sufferings of this border areas. Due to the Unavailablity of ‘Tunnel’ at sadhna, these remote areas of the district stays away from the district quarter for months mainly during these ongoing winter days’.

In a handout received here, which reads, this is in regards to the Sadhna Tunnel. Many years have passed by seeing heartbreaking deaths and protests pressing the demand for the construction of a tunnel at the Sadhna Pass on the Kupwara-Tangdhar highway. Unfortunately all in vain and till date we can see nothing come to action.

“The residents are vulnerable and are completely cut off from the valley during the winter season due to heavy snowfalls in the area. This stretch is highly vulnerable to avalanches and landslides which has turned it into a death trap”, it further reads,

Khan said “From the past one week, there are dead bodies in Kupwara that have not been taken to their homes for their last rituals due to no medium for transport. It is so miserable to see the what their families might be going through.”, adding

“Respecting and thinking about the residents who have sacrificed their lives and people who in this harsh weather are still protesting and trying to raise their voices. The government should immediately take action”,

He has sought the cooperation from the LG-led authorities to intervene in the matter.
