Srinagar, March 29 (GNS): Some private schools in Kashmir Valley fail to adhere to the official holiday calendar and their staff have urged authorities to act in this regard.
Reports reaching GNS that some private schools decline to adhere to the official calendar of holidays and call staff on one pretext or another.
“Our school is off for students tomorrow on account of the public holiday but teaching and non-teaching staff have been called on the pretext of some meeting,” staffers of a school in the Bemina area of Srinagar told GNS.
They urged authorities concerned to look into the matter and ensure that private school teachers and non-teaching teachers are not allowed to be treated like “bounded labours” by the respective institution. “The authorities must carry surprise inspections to prevent private schools from usurping rights of staff as regards the holidays.” (GNS)
