Fast X has taken a very good lead at the box office, what with another good day in theatres resulting in Rs. 13 crores* more coming in. The film is seeing appreciation from the audiences as after a long time a true Hollywood film has come, which is actually catering to Indian sensibilities in large numbers. Otherwise, there has been a series of Marvel films, which cater primarily to hardcore fanbase and of late even they have been disappointing. Hence, a film like Fast X, which is a safe bet for those who love fast action unfolding on screen, is keeping audiences engaged.
The film had collected Rs. 12 crores on Thursday so an increase in numbers on Friday is a good sign as the collections would now see good incremental addition today as well. So far, the film has already collected Rs. 25 crores* and while it’s a given that a half century would be scored by the Vin Diesel led ensemble affair by the close of the extended weekend, it has to be seen where does it eventually land up in the vicinity of Rs. 55 crores mark.
As for The Kerala Story, the film is still collecting well with Rs. 6.6 crores coming on the third Friday. This is not too far away from the first day numbers of Rs. 8 crores, which is brilliant indeed. That said, such had been the stranglehold of the film ever since its release that a slight decline in numbers from Wednesday (Rs. 8.03 crores) to Thursday (Rs. 7 crores) and now Friday (Rs. 6 crores) is coming across as an aberration. It’s clear that the release of Fast X has had an impact on the Sudipto Sen directed film, and one now waits to see the kind of jump that it evidences in the remainder of the weekend.
The film has already collected Rs. 178.25 crores and while earlier it had seemed that the Rs. 200 Crore Club entry would happen by Sunday itself, by the look of things it could well spill over to Monday or may be even Tuesday.
Estimates. Final numbers awaited
Note: All collections as per production and distribution sources
