Women’s safety, eradicating drug menace my top priorities: SP Divya D

Sopore, Jan 30 (KNO): A day after assuming the charge as Superintendent of Police (SP) Sopore, Divya D on Tuesday said that women’s safety and eradicating the drug menace within the jurisdiction would be her top priority.

Speaking with the media persons, Divya as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) emphasized her commitment to ensure the safety of people, particularly focusing on creating a secure environment for women besides, combating the drug menace in her jurisdiction.

“Ensuring the safety and well being of women is not just a professional duty but a moral responsibility as well. We will work in coordination with the local people to create a safe and secure environment,” Divya said.

While seeking public cooperation, Divya said that they will act tough against drug peddlers and dealers as police are on a task to eliminate drug addiction. “We need your support. Reach out to us and share inputs,” she said while making an appeal to the general public.

Pertinently, Divya D (IPS) took charge as Superintendent of Police, Sopore on Monday, relieving Shabir Nawab.

Divya was earlier serving Baramulla as Superintendent of Police Headquarters.

After assuming the charge on Monday, the official convened an introductory meeting with the police officers and impressed upon them to work with dedication and zeal to fulfil the aspirations of the people—(KNO)
