Woman’s body found in power canal in Ganderbal, probe launched

Ganderbal, Feb 09 (KNO: A woman was found dead in a power canal in Gund area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Friday, officials said.

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the body was spotted by some locals, who informed the police, following which team reached to the spot.

He said that the body was later retrieved from the canal and taken to Trauma hospital Kangan for medico-legal formalities.

She has been identified as Haseena Begum (57) wife of Farooq Ahmad of Haknar Gund.

“A case under relevant sections of law has been registered and further investigation has been initiated in this regard,” the official said—(KNO)
