2 drug peddlers arrested in Baramulla: Police

Srinagar, Feb 10 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday said to have arrested two drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

“A police party headed by Incharge Police Post Palhallan at a checkpoint established at Tapper near NHW intercepted 02 persons who tried to flee away from the spot but were apprehended tactfully,” a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

They have been identified as Mohammad Aqib Ganie son of Ghulam Mohammad Ganie resident of Takiya Tapper & Jahangir Ahmad Ganie son of Ghulam Ahmad Ganie resident of Rengi. During search, 3 Kgs of Cannabis Powder was recovered from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, police said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station and investigation has been initiated.

“We urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law,” police said—(KNO)
