Pakistan Election 2024: PTI interim chief says party aims to form government

JK News Live

Gohar Ali Khan says the party will try to form a government as it won the most seats in Pakistan’s general elections.

Speaking at a news conference in Islamabad, he said if complete results were not released by Saturday night, the PTI would hold a peaceful protest on Sunday.

He called on all institutions in Pakistan to respect the party’s mandate.

Ex-PM Nawaz Sharif has also claimed victory, despite independent candidates backed by PTI’s jailed leader Imran Khan having won the most seats.

Supporters of PTI are protesting outside a temporary election commission office in Peshawar, amid claims the election result delay is allowing authorities to rig the vote-counting.
