Budgam, Feb 12, KNT: A leopard was found dead in Central Kashmir’s Budgam village on Monday. This comes just days after a leopard was sighted multiple times in different parts of Budgam.
Wild Life Officer, Budgam Bashir Ahmed told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that locals from Ichgam village informed the department that a leopard is lying dead near a place called Bearkah.
He said that a Wildlife team rushed to the spot and recovered the body of the leopard.
He said this prima facie appeared to be a case of natural death. “The actual cause of the death is still unknown. The body of the animal has been sent for postmortem,” the Wildlife Officer said.
Pertinently, isolated sightings of leopards in Budgam villages have been reported in the recent past. “With the recovery of this body, the presence of other leopards can’t be ruled out,” an official told KNT.
