JMI’s Department of Mechanical Engineering organizes Technical Festival “Celestra”

The student chapters of the professional technical societies, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the Society of Automotive Engineers and The Robotics Society of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Jamia Millia Islamia(JMI), organized a Technical Festival “Celestra” on 29th of February 2024 to commemorate India’s endeavor for Viksat Bharat. The event was inaugurated by Prof. Mini Thomas, Dean, Faculty of Engineering &Technology,JMI. She elaborated on the importance of being a member of any International professional society for the students of engineering, since such memberships provide access to a wealth of information on the industry, opportunities to connect and volunteer with individuals who share the same passion and interests, and guidance throughout the professional journey.

The Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Prof Zahid Akhtar Khan welcomed the faculty members and the students to the event and further emphasized on the importance of professional societies in the present scenario. He encouraged the freshers to enroll in any of the societies of their interest, since almost all technical societies are multi-disciplinary.

The fest had 10 technical competitions, such as Product Selling WAT & GD, AI Image Generation, Technical Treasure Hunt, Open Mic, Technical Quiz, Robocar, Tambola, etc. The students not only from the Faculty of Engineering &Technology but the whole university participated in all the events.

The Fest was coordinated by Prof Sabah Khan who welcomed everyone to a day filled with fun and energy. The student Heads of ASME and SAE, and TRS, Mohammed Farhan, Hiba Zia and Akram Afridi respectively, along with their team members Muskan Ahmad, Piyush Bhatnagar and Fiza Moin worked hard with their society members for the success of the fest. They were assisted by Mohammad Asadullah, Aman Khan and Zoya Anas, Anshul Panchal and many others worked hard in a short span of time to bring about a successful event filled with vigor and lots of activities. The winners of the competitions were given away certificates of participation and prizes by The Dean, Prof Mini Thomas and Prof Z A Khan during the valedictory program at the end of the day.

The convenor of the program, Prof Sabah Khan concluded the event thanking all the members of the organizing committee and the sponsors of the fest. Specially,the batch of BTech Mechanical 2005 under the guidance of Mr. Anurag Vashishta, AGM Diakin, Al Areeb Perfumes, Munchies Mania, Scoops & Sips, Tech Bite Delights and the NGO Works for their support.
