Fresh Snowfall Blankets In Gurez Valley, Disrupts Life

Srinagar, 29 April (KS): A late-season snowfall blanketed Gurez Valley in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Monday, April 29.

Reports reaching news agency Kashmir Scroll said Gurez valley including Tulail valley received fresh snowfall.

The rains however, lashed plains of Kashmir including the summer capital of J&K, Srinagar in the later afternoon hours, bringing down the mercury here.

The unexpected snowfall caused inconvenience to locals and disrupted daily life. Over a foot of fresh snow fell in the valley, leading to the closure of schools and shortages of essential supplies.

The Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Gurez ordered the closure of all schools in the area as a precautionary measure.

The Bandipora-Gurez road was also closed till further orders due to the snowfall at Razdhan Top after fresh snowfall

However’ Snow clearance operations are underway to ensure safe travel is restored as soon as possible.(KS)
