Handwara, Apr 30: Authorities on Tuesday decided to suspend classes in 14 schools in the Handwara education zone due to flash floods. However, teachers were directed to attend schools.
According to the Zonal Education Officers in Handwara, the affected schools include GMS Kulangam, Govt. Primary School Khuramabad, Govt. BMS Khanpora, GHS Chogal, UPS Braripora Boys High School Chogal, MS Kawari, UPS Gonipora Handwara, BPS Chogal, PS New Colony Awatkhulla, PS Astan Mohalla Kulangam, PS Herpora Kulangam, PS Chota Braripora, and UPS Geeripora.
The officers stated that these schools were affected by the flash floods and have directed the concerned teachers to mobilize workers to clean them, for which they will be compensated.
Additionally, the Additional Deputy Commissioner has instructed school teachers to fumigate these schools to ensure students’ safety.
