Incarcerated Politician Er. Rashid Registers Landslide Win On Baramulla LS Seat

Aga Ruhullah terms allowing incarcerated MP to take oath as LS member positive, says will focus on 370, restoration of statehood in assembly polls

KNO Correspondent

Srinagar, Jul 05 (KNO): National Conference (NC) MP from Srinagar, Ruhullah Mehdi, said on Friday that his party will center its campaign for the upcoming assembly elections on the issues of full statehood and the abrogation of Article 370.

Speaking to the media following the National Conference’s manifesto committee meeting on Friday, Mehdi emphasized that other critical local issues, such as land rights and employment, will also be integral to their platform.

As per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) Correspondent, Ruhullah detailed the wide array of topics discussed during the meeting, which included land rights, unemployment, rising electricity bills, power projects, reservation, tourism, education, health, and urban development. He affirmed that these issues will be revisited and incorporated into the party’s manifesto after further consultations with the public.

“We have had a comprehensive discussion on all these issues, with members highlighting various concerns,” said Mehdi. “There is a consensus that if assembly elections are held, we will address the public with the issues of full statehood, Article 370, and other local matters. Our manifesto will be crafted after seeking public opinion.”

Mehdi assured that the National Conference, if victorious, would take decisions in the public interest on the issues highlighted during their campaign. The party plans to finalize the manifesto following extensive discussions with the populace over the next thirty to forty days.

In response to a question about Engineer Rashid, Mehdi remarked, “It is positive that MP Rashid has taken his oath as a Lok Sabha member. He should also be allowed to participate in the proceedings of Parliament.”—(KNO)
