Baramulla, Nov 11: A family of a woman from Kupwara village on Monday accused the in-laws of their daughter’s murder in north Kashmir’s Baramulla village.
Mushtaq Ahmad, a relative of the deceased woman (name withheld), informed Kashmir Despatch over the phone that their daughter was allegedly killed by her husband in Dardpura Baramulla.
He alleged that on Sunday evening our daughter was allegedly beaten ruthlessly, which was even common for her husband to beat her on a daily basis; however, yesterday, after breaking all the records, our daughter took an extreme step and consumed poison.
However, her neighbors took her to the hospital, where doctors couldn’t save her.
He said it’s been four years since our daughter was married; however, in the first year only her husband started abusing and beating her, and it used to be common for him. We conveyed many times to him not to be so harsh with our daughter; however, it never worked, and last year a case between the duo went to court.
The relative further added that after a committee involvement into the issue case was withdrawn from the court, and since then our daughter went home, and it’s been just months again. She was facing the repeated treatment from her husband, and she never had spent a day with happiness. She was a victim at her own home; even her in-laws never tried to treat her own daughter; they never tried to make their son understand that they too have daughters, alleged relative.
Medical superintendent of GMC Bla, Dr. Parvaiz Masoodi, told Kashmir Despatch that we received a patient who had taken poison. We tried our best; however, we couldn’t save her. He said that after the postmortem, he will come up with an actual report.
Station house officer Baramulla was not available for comments despite related attempts.
