Reckless Racing on Srinagar Flyover Sparks Public Outrage
JK News Live

Srinagar, Jan 8, KNT: A video circulating on social media has sparked outrage among responsible citizens, showing two Thar Jeeps recklessly racing and attempting to overtake each other and other vehicles on a flyover in Srinagar. The dangerous behavior not only endangered the lives of other commuters but also highlighted growing concerns about road safety in the city.

The footage shows the two vehicles, allegedly driven by unidentified youth, engaging in risky maneuvers that could have led to a tragic accident. The incident has drawn sharp criticism from citizens, who have labeled the drivers as “brainless children of affluent families” and demanded strict action against such irresponsible behavior.

A large number of people have appealed to authorities to book the both drivers under the Public Safety Act.

The video comes on the heels of a recent fatal accident in Tengapora, Srinagar, where two students lost their lives. The tragic incident had sparked widespread societal outrage, prompting authorities to impose a ban on underage driving in the city.

Public sentiment against reckless driving has intensified, with many calling for stricter enforcement of traffic laws and penalties for violators. “This kind of behavior not only puts the drivers at risk but also jeopardizes the safety of innocent commuters. Authorities must act decisively to prevent such incidents,” said a concerned citizen. [KNT]
