NC govt ignored Divyang Medalist of J&K: Sat Sharma

Jammu, March 17: Launching a scathing attack on the present NC government for the utter ignorance and negligence to promote the vital issues and now Divyang talent of Jammu & Kashmir while indulging in blatant blame politics for five months, Sat Sharma, President, J&K BJP asks the ruling dispensation to honour and promote those who bring laurels and honour to the parents, society, region, and nation with their diligence.

Sat Sharma, in a statement, said that a young Divyang child named Jahangir has brought laurels to the J&K and whole of India by winning 2 medals (silver and Bronze) in “Special Olympics World Winter Games 2025” conducted in Italy recently. He said that while the Union government supported the young enthusiast, the J&K government led by NC remained ignorant and negligent in promoting such a brilliant talent hailing from Kashmir.

He said that the team of 30 talented competitors was sent for the ‘Special Olympics World Winter Games 2025’ and facilitated for fetching 33 medals under the supervision of Dr. Mallika Nadda, President, Special Olympics Bharat.

“While the representatives of all State Governments were present to receive and welcome the winners at the IGI Airport, Delhi, any representative from the J&K government was missing”, he said.

He said that Jahangir was needy and the poor, who received the attention of the Union government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi but could not fetch the attention of J&K government.

While the ministry of youth and sports, under the Union government played its part, now its time for J&K government to felicitate Jahangir, and initiate steps to facilitate the promotion and training of Divyang sports and other events for Divyang. He also asked the NC government to take the necessary steps to identify such talented youth, nurture them, and make the environment conducive for such gifted and hardworking heroes so that they could bring more laurels to Jammu & Kashmir.

He added that the Modi government has promoted the sports culture by the enthusiastic initiations like ‘Khelo India’ and other measures, there is an urgent need that the ruling NC government must take the necessary steps to promote the sports culture in J&K, giving proper facilities, infrastructure and the training staff to the budding sports enthusiasts.(BAN)
