Principal calls demand “not genuine,” cites high costs and operational hurdles

Aqzar Raheel

Ganderbal(KNZ): Parents from main town Ganderbal have raised serious concerns over the absence of a school bus service for their children studying at R.P. School Nagbal, despite the institution owning a fleet of vehicles registered with the RTO.

The concerned parents say that the lack of proper transport has forced their children—particularly younger ones—to depend on private cabs or autos, often unreliable and unsafe.

“R.P. School Nagbal is among the reputed schools in the district, yet there’s no bus service from the main town. It’s disappointing,” said Showkat Ahmad Tantray, a parent from Duderhama.

Another parent, Iqbal Qasim, added, “We worry every day about our children’s commute. It’s a basic facility, and the school should ensure safe travel for all students.”

The parents are now urging the district administration to step in and direct the school to arrange at least one bus for the main town route to relieve the burden on families and ensure student safety.

However, responding to the concerns, the school principal said the demand is not feasible. “We can’t bring a bus worth 30 lakhs and then handle all its upkeep. There’s CCTV installation, a driver, a conductor—all of that adds up. Until yesterday, there were no complaints. So how is it suddenly an issue? I don’t think this demand is genuine,” the Principal said(KNZ)
