J&K Nursing Council Postpones Practical Exams Again; Students Left Confused and Anxious

Jammu, May 14, 2025:  The Jammu & Kashmir Nursing Council has postponed the practical examinations for various Nursing and Paramedical streams, which were scheduled to begin on May 13, 2025, in Jammu Division.

The decision, taken due to “prevailing unavoidable circumstances,” has affected thousands of students across the region, especially those from Kashmir, leaving them anxious and uncertain about what comes next.

According to a circular issued on May 10, 2025, the Council cited the tense situation in Jammu as the reason for the delay. However, no revised date sheet has been released yet, causing growing frustration among students. Many candidates, particularly from remote areas of Kashmir, had recently travelled back home due to the India-Pakistan conflict and are now left in limbo.

“Even though the situation is now relatively calm, there is complete silence from the authorities. Students are mentally disturbed and uncertain about when they’ll be called back,” said a student from Baramulla while speaking to Jammu Kashmir Press Service.

Students and parents are appealing to the Council to not only release the new schedule soon but also to provide adequate time for students to travel back and prepare, considering the psychological and logistical stress they’ve endured.

Authorities are yet to respond to the concerns raised by students and stakeholders. (JKPS)
