Ganderbal, June 28, 2025 —A new chapter in Ganderbal’s culinary and commercial landscape began today with the grand inauguration of Karim’s, Haleema (Pure Kashmiri Wazwan), and Fresh Extract at the Central Avenue Mall, Duderhama, Ganderbal.
The inauguration ceremony was held in the presence of Senior National Conference Leader Salman Sagar, Vice Chancellor of the Central University of Kashmir, and other prominent dignitaries. The event marked the official entry of the iconic Karim’s restaurant chain into the Ganderbal district.
Founded in 1913 by Haji Karimuddin, a royal cook in the court of Mughal Emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar, Karim’s is a globally renowned restaurant chain with its roots in the Jama Masjid area of Delhi. The Ganderbal franchise is owned and operated by Mouzam Wani, a local entrepreneur who has become a symbol of youth empowerment and financial independence in the district.
“We are proud to bring the legacy of Karim’s to Ganderbal, along with authentic Kashmiri Wazwan under the brand Haleema,” said Mouzam Wani, speaking to the media. “Our aim is to offer something new and high-quality food to the people of the district that is both traditional and exceptional.”
The new outlets are located on the 3rd floor, Food Court of Central Avenue Mall, Ganderbal’s first-of-its-kind shopping complex, developed by Owaise Rashid lone . The mall features a wide range of retail outlets and amenities and is situated opposite Boys Higher Secondary School, Duderhama.
While talking to media, National Conference senior leader Salman Sagar praised the initiative, stating, “It’s heartening to see our youth take charge, create jobs, and contribute to the local economy. The food quality is excellent, and ventures like these deserve full community support.”
