JK News Live

Srinagar,July 25 :Haj applications across Jammu and Kashmir have witnessed a sharp decline this year, with only 28.42% of the total quota filled as of July 24, 2025. Out of an expected 7,896 applications, only 2,244 have been received.

As per official data assessed by news agency JKNS, Samba district recorded the highest number of applications with 19 out of a quota of 22 (87.61%), followed by Pulwama with 194 applications out of 408 (47.60%) and Srinagar with 527 applications out of 1,113 (47.36%).

In contrast, districts like Poonch (10.08%), Doda (12.95%), and Kishtwar (17.47%) are among the lowest performers.

Similarly, Kulgam recorded 32%, Baramulla 29.57%, Jammu 28.55%, Budgam 28.47%, Ganderbal 28.41%, Kathua 28.01%, Anantnag 25.03%, Udhampur 23.06%, Shopian 23%, Rajouri 22.9%, Bandipora 21.88%, Reasi 18.29%, Kupwara 17.98%, and Ramban 17.94%.

Officials attribute the low turnout to multiple factors, including economic constraints and procedural delays, urging prospective pilgrims to submit their applications at the earliest. (JKNS)
