Ganderbal, Aug 14: Department of Economics, Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir) hosted the Deeksharambh–Student Induction Programme-under the theme “Building Connections, Inspiring Futures—Let’s Get to Know Each Other” here on Thursday.
Welcoming the freshers of M.A Economics, Dr. Masroor Ahmad, Associate Professor and HoD underscored the importance of academic excellence, integrity, and lifelong learning as the defining ethos of the institution. Encouraging students to make the most of the opportunities ahead, he urged them to engage actively in the academic community with dedication and enthusiasm.
Dr. Tasleem Araf, Asst Prof shared the department’s recent achievements, including notable research contributions and academic recognitions. Highlighting the successful placement of alumni in prestigious institutions, government departments, and corporate organizations, he familiarized students with the university’s infrastructure — from classrooms and laboratories to other academic facilities.
Dr. Tosib Alam, Asst Prof. and Academic Coordinator, gave an overview of the Master’s programme syllabus and curriculum, detailing both core and elective courses. He elaborated on the academic calendar, important assessment timelines, and provisions for academic flexibility.
Dr. Khursheed Hussain, Asst Prof guided students through the examination registration process and introduced the Academic Bank of Credit system, emphasizing its role in enhancing academic mobility and flexibility.
Dr. Jainendra Kumar Verma, Asst Prof outlined the university’s Anti-Ragging Policy, Equal Opportunity initiatives, and Anti-Discriminatory guidelines, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to an inclusive and secure learning environment. He briefed students on the services offered by the university health centre and the safety measures in place on campus.
