CUKashmir accords warm send off to senior faculty members, officer

Ganderbal, Aug 31: Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir) organised a farewell to honour three members of its academic and administrative fraternity—Prof. Fayaz A. Nikka, Dean, School of Business Studies; Prof. M. Yousuf, Dean, School of Physical and Chemical Sciences (who attained the age of superannuation) and Dr. Tanveer A. Shah, Controller of Examinations, who completed his deputation with the University and has now repatriated to his parent institution, University of Kashmir.

The occasion was graced by senior functionaries, including Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A Ravinder Nath, Dean Academic Affairs and I/c Registrar, Prof. Shahid Rasool; Dean International Affairs, Prof. Sandhya Tiwari; Dean, School of Legal Studies, Prof. Farooq Ahmad Mir, Dean School of Education, Prof. Syed Zahoor Ahmad Geelani, Dean School of Life Sciences, Prof. Abid Hameed, and Prof. C. Naseema, Professor of Education and Controller of Examinations (designate).
Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A Ravinder Nath expressed deep admiration for the trio, observing that their collective contributions had enriched the University’s academic landscape and strengthened its institutional fabric.

“Universities are shaped by the selfless commitment and untiring efforts of individuals like Prof. Fayaz A. Nikka, Prof. M. Yousuf, and Dr. Tanveer A. Shah. Their distinguished service has left an indelible mark on the University’s journey, and we remain indebted to their legacy,” he remarked. CUKashmir Vice Chancellor, expressed confidence that the high standards he (Dr. Tanveer) established will be carried forward seamlessly under the stewardship of Prof. C. Naseema.

Addressing the gathering, all the Deans hailed the contribution of the faculty members and CoE, lauding their scholarship, professional integrity, and steadfast devotion to the University’s mission.

In their remarks, the speakers recalled the leadership and vision with which Prof. Fayaz A. Nikka and Prof. M. Yousuf guided their respective schools, inspiring both colleagues and students. They also commended Dr. Tanveer A. Shah for steering the crucial office of examinations with transparency, and fairness.

Prof. Fayaz A. Nikka, Prof. M. Yousuf, and Dr. Tanveer A. Shah in their speech placed on record their appreciation to Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A. Ravinder Nath, for instituting the thoughtful practice of hosting farewells, which they described as a dignified tradition of acknowledgement and gratitude. They noted that such gestures foster a culture of respect, strengthen institutional bonds, and encourage younger faculty members to imbibe values of service and dedication.
