Assures full support to beekeepers, encourages public to promote & purchase local honey

GANDERBAL, SEPTEMBER 25: Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore, today inaugurated the Honey Festival organized by the Department of Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare, Ganderbal, under Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) as part of the ongoing Sewa Parv celebrations.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC congratulated the Agriculture Department and the Chief Agriculture Officer, Ganderbal, for successfully organizing the festival to tap the immense potential of honey production in the district. He expressed satisfaction over the quality, branding, and packaging of the products displayed by local entrepreneurs engaged in honey production.

The DC assured bee-keepers and entrepreneurs of continued institutional support, particularly in marketing, branding, and creating dedicated marketing hubs.

He said the district administration would work towards showcasing locally produced honey in vending stores and other platforms to enhance visibility and market reach.

Encouraging the public to support local bee-keepers, the DC highlighted that the honey produced in Ganderbal is of the highest quality and free from adulteration. He reiterated the Prime Minister’s call for “Vocal for Local” and urged people to purchase and promote locally produced honey, which would directly contribute to the prosperity of farmers and entrepreneurs.

The festival featured stalls set up by local bee-keepers and entrepreneurs at the venue to showcase their honey products and related innovations, drawing enthusiastic participation from visitors. The event also served as an opportunity for awareness, market exposure, and interaction between farmers, entrepreneurs, and the Agriculture Department.

The DC reaffirmed that both the District Administration and Agriculture Department will extend all possible support to strengthen apiculture as a promising sector for livelihood generation and rural prosperity in Ganderbal.
