ICSS, IUST Organizes Religio-Historical Visit in Srinagar

Awantipora, March 30 – The International Centre for Spiritual Studies (ICSS), Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), organized an exposure visit aimed to enhance the students’ understanding of Kashmir’s rich spiritual and cultural heritage.

The students visited several important sites of religio-historical significance in Srinagar, including Aali Masjid, Eidgāh, the shrine of Sayyid Sharaf al-Dīn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān (Bulbul Shāh) RA, the tomb of Sulṭān Ṣadr al-Dīn (Rinchin Shāh), the shrine of Shaykh Yaʿqūb Ṣarfī RA, Baytul Meeraas, and Dargāh Ḥaḍratbal. The visit provided students with an immersive engagement with the lives, teachings, and enduring legacy of Kashmir’s spiritual luminaries. It also offered a valuable opportunity to observe first-hand the interconnected religious and cultural landscape of the Valley, thereby reinforcing key themes of the course through experiential learning.

The visit was organized under the directorship of Prof. G. N. Khaki, Director, ICSS. The students were accompanied by Dr. Aamir Habib and Mr. Ghazi Nazir Naqash, Assistant Professors at ICSS, along with other members of the Centre. The initiative enabled students to critically connect field observations with classroom learning, promoted experiential learning as a vital component of academic programmes, and helped develop a deeper appreciation of Kashmir’s religious heritage.
