Mega Awareness Camp-cum-Loan Mela Held at GDC Ganderbal

The J&K Women’s Development Corporation (JKWDC), in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare, Ganderbal, today organized a Mega Awareness Camp-cum-Loan Mela at Government Degree College (GDC) Ganderbal. The programme was sponsored by the National Minorities Development and Finance Corporation (NMDFC), Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India.

Principal GDC Ganderbal, Ms. Fauzia Fatima, graced the event as the Chief Guest, while District Programme Officer (DPO) Ganderbal, Ms. Bureeda Majid, and Mr. Ab Rashid Bhat, Deputy Registrar, Central University of Kashmir, attended as Guests of Honour. The dignitaries were warmly welcomed by Shabir Ahmad Wani, District Manager JKWDC Ganderbal/Baramulla–Kupwara, along with his team.

The event highlighted various self-employment and welfare schemes of JKWDC and NMDFC aimed at empowering women, particularly those from minority and economically weaker sections. The programme witnessed large participation from students, ICDS workers, SHG members, and local women entrepreneurs, making the event highly impactful.

Addressing the gathering, the Principal and DPO Ganderbal emphasized the importance of women availing government-supported financial assistance schemes to strengthen their economic independence and create sustainable livelihoods.

Dr. Gh. Mouhidin Bhat, Head, Faculty of Forestry, also delivered an informative session on women’s safety and empowerment, receiving appreciation from the participants.

Mr. Tahir Parvez from JKWDC and Ms. Gull Yasmeen, District Manager JKWDC (Bandipora–Srinagar–Budgam), were also present on the occasion and shared valuable information about the diverse initiatives and loan facilities offered by the Corporation.

The programme began with a warm Welcome Address by Prof. Mehvish, and concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Shazia, expressing gratitude to all guests, participants, and departments for contributing to the success of the event.

JKWDC reaffirmed its commitment to advancing women’s empowerment, financial inclusion, and entrepreneurship development across the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
