ASHA Workers Protest in Hajin Over Six-Month Salary Delay

JK News Live

Hajin, Dec 17, KNT: ASHA workers on Wednesday staged a protest in Hajin, alleging that their salaries have not been paid for the past six months, leading to severe financial distress among the frontline health workers.

The protesting workers said the prolonged delay in disbursal of wages has pushed many of them into hardship, affecting their ability to meet basic household expenses. They expressed strong resentment over what they described as continued neglect by the concerned authorities despite repeated representations.

The ASHA workers said they have been performing their duties diligently, including participation in health awareness drives, immunisation programmes, and grassroots healthcare services, but their efforts have not been matched with timely payment of wages.

The protesting workers urged the Health Department and district administration to intervene immediately and ensure the release of all pending salaries without further delay. They warned that if the issue remains unresolved, they may intensify their agitation in the coming days. [KNT]
