DC Budgam Visits Pandit Colony Sheikhpora; Addresses Community Concerns

BUDGAM, DECEMBER 22: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat, today visited Pandit Colony, Sheikhpora budgam .

Various issues related to essential services were raised by members of pandit colony sheikhpora, the DC gave a patient hearing to the issues raised by the Pandit community.

Interacting with the members of Sheikhpora Transit-Camp Welfare Committee, the DC was apprised of various civic, safety and infrastructure-related concerns including repair and replacement of damaged trench manholes and covers, augmentation of street lighting with new low tension electric lines, construction of a proper drainage system to address water logging, repair and resurfacing of internal roads, landscaping and beautification of the colony, and installation of covered metal dustbins for improved sanitation.

The DC on-spot, redressed some of the grievances and assured the residents that all genuine issues raised would be addressed on priority.

Later, the DC inspected the construction work of the Multipurpose Community Hall at Pandit Colony, Sheikhpora. The project, being executed at a sanctioned cost of ₹63.11 lakh, involves construction of an RCC-framed double-storey building comprising two halls and two washrooms. About 80 percent of the work has been completed and the project is targeted for completion by March 2026.

The DC directed the concerned engineers and executing agencies to ensure quality workmanship, strict adherence to construction norms and timely completion of the project. He emphasized that the facility will serve as an important social and community infrastructure for PM Package employees and their families residing in the Transit Accommodation.

During the visit, the DC was accompanied by the Chief Planning Officer Budgam, Chief Medical Officer, Executive Engineer PDD Budgam, Chief Executive Officer Municipal Committee Budgam, AEE R&B Budgam and other senior officers
