KISHTWAR, JANUARY 20: One-day skill training was today organised here for the counsellors of government departments to strengthen the community-driven awareness campaign against drug abuse and substance addiction- a key initiative of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA).
The training session was attended by counsellors from Social Welfare, Education and NRLM. Medicos from District Hospital, the resource persons, shared information about the available de-addiction and rehabilitation services and helpline channels.
Dr. Haris (Medical Officer/In-charge, ATF) highlighted the physiological and psychological consequences of drug addiction. He elaborated the early signs of addiction, prevention strategies and the role of parents, educational institutions and society in combating the menace of drugs. Dr. Wajid Ali (In-charge-Drug Prevalence Survey) underscored the importance of community-level counselling and other interventions.
Addressing the participants, the DSWO underlined the objectives of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) and the pivotal role of government departments in spreading public awareness.
