Srinagar, Jan 25, KNT: Train services in the Kashmir Valley continued to operate smoothly on Saturday as weather conditions showed improvement following an earlier spell of snowfall across the region. Officials confirmed that the Vande Bharat train, which had departed from Katra for Srinagar, successfully reached Qazigund, marking a significant development in maintaining rail connectivity amid challenging winter conditions.
The Valley witnessed intermittent snowfall since the night, which had affected normal life in several areas, particularly in higher reaches and along key transport corridors. Snow accumulation and low temperatures had raised concerns over possible disruptions to road and rail movement. However, rail authorities ensured that necessary precautions were taken to keep train operations functional.
According to railway officials, the movement of the Vande Bharat train from Katra to Qazigund was closely monitored, with operational teams remaining on alert to respond to any weather-related issues along the route. The successful arrival of the train at Qazigund indicated improved track conditions and effective coordination between railway and weather monitoring teams.
Authorities stated that train services would continue to operate as per schedule, subject to prevailing weather conditions. They added that passengers are being regularly updated regarding any changes in timings or routes through official communication channels. [KNT]
