GANDERBAL, MAY 15: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore today visited Baltal Base Camp to review the status of preparations and arrangements being put in place for the smooth conduct of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY)-2026.
During the visit, the DC took a detailed appraisal of the site plan of Baltal Base Camp from Y-Junction to the Domail access gate and assessed the progress of various ongoing works and facilities being provided for the pilgrims.
The DC reviewed the progress on ground including maintenance of parking areas, improvement of pony tracks at Baltal and Domail, proper barricading at pony areas for smooth pony movement as well as various allied facilities at Baltal Base Camp.
The DC directed KPDCL to ensure adequate lighting arrangements at key locations, including at the Pony Stand which witnesses heavy footfall.
During the inspection, the DC directed the I&FC Department to expedite drainage and crate protection works.
Telecom agencies were instructed to ensure seamless network connectivity across the yatra route and base camp areas.
The Labour Department was asked to organize registration camps at various locations including Sonamarg for facilitation of workers and service providers associated with the yatra.
The Traffic Department was instructed to formulate an efficient traffic management plan, while SRTC was asked to ensure proper transportation facilities and establishment of sufficient number of ticket booking counters for pilgrims.
The DC further directed BRO to ensure timely snow clearance and maintenance of Yatra track and also advised them to maintain close coordination with other departments to ensure works are executed in a coordinated manner.
The DC issued on-the-spot instructions to the concerned departments and executing agencies to accelerate the pace of works and ensure completion within the stipulated timelines.
Later, the DC also visited the Pony Stand and directed the concerned officers to ensure adequate amenities and proper facilities for smooth management and convenience of pilgrims.
During the visit, the DC was accompanied Senior Superintendent of Police, Sudhanshu Dhama, Additional Deputy Commissioner, CEO Sonmarg Development Authority, Sub Divisional Magistrate, officers of various line departments as well as representatives of BRO, SASB and telecom agencies etc.
