Srinagar, May 19, KNT: In response to the widespread disruption caused by powerful gusty winds during the intervening night of May 18 and 19, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, conducted an on-ground inspection of the Power Grid Station at Bemina on Monday morning to oversee the restoration efforts.

Accompanied by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Srinagar, the DC assessed the damage and reviewed the progress of work being carried out by the Power Development Department (PDD) teams, who have been working round-the-clock to restore electricity across the city.

According to officials, 93 percent of power feeders have already been restored in Srinagar, and full restoration is expected to be completed by 3:00 PM today.

Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat commended the field teams for their swift response in challenging conditions and urged them to ensure timely restoration in the remaining areas. He also assured the public that the administration is closely monitoring the situation and will take all necessary steps to stabilize essential services affected by the windstorm.

Several parts of Srinagar and other districts were plunged into darkness following the storm, which uprooted trees, damaged power lines, and disrupted normal life across the Valley. [KNT]
