Srinagar, Dec 10, KNT: Srinagar Police on Wednesday attached a three storeyed residential house along with one kanal of land, valued at approximately ₹2 crore, under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
The attached property is in the possession of Fayaz Ahmad Bhat, son of Ghulam Muhammad Bhat, an inhabitant of Shaltang. Police said Fayaz Ahmad Bhat is the father of a notorious drug peddler, Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, also an inhabitant of Shaltang.
According to officials, Manzoor Ahmad Bhat is an accused in FIR No. 98/2025 registered under Sections 8, 22 and 29 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Parimpora. During the course of investigation, it was established that the property in question had been acquired through illegal proceeds generated from drug trafficking.
Following these findings, the competent authority ordered the attachment of the property under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act. The attachment proceedings were carried out strictly in accordance with legal procedures and in the presence of an Executive Magistrate and independent witnesses.
As per the attachment order, the owner of the property has been barred from selling, leasing, modifying or creating any third party interest in the attached asset.
Police reiterated their resolve to dismantle drug networks and take stringent action against individuals involved in the drug trade, officials said. [KNT]
