KU organises free medical camp under Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan

Srinagar April 22: The Health Centre, University of Kashmir (KU) Main Campus in collaboration with the Health Centre, Institute of Technology (IoT), Zakura Campus, organised a day-long free medical camp under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan.

The camp aimed to promote awareness about substance abuse, encourage preventive healthcare practices, and provide accessible medical support to the campus community.

The initiative offered free medical consultation, counselling, general health check-ups, and blood sample collection and testing for students and staff.

Vice-Chancellor, KU, Prof. Nilofer Khan, during her visit to the camp, said, “Health awareness and timely intervention are essential for building a responsible and informed community. Such initiatives play an important role in addressing issues like substance abuse and promoting overall well-being.”

Registrar, KU, Prof. Naseer Iqbal, said that the University continues to support initiatives that focus on student and staff welfare and accessible healthcare services on campus.

Director, IoT, Zakura Campus, KU, Prof. Mohammad Tariq Banday, said that such outreach programmes play a key role in promoting health awareness and community well-being.

Coordinator, Health Centre, KU, Dr. Khalid Nazir, said that the camp was organised to ensure early detection of health issues and to provide guidance on maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

The camp was attended by several students and staff, who expressed satisfaction with the services and medical support provided during the programme. Around 170 patients availed free treatment, medicines, and laboratory investigations. The investigations included Complete Blood Count (CBC), triple serology screening, and on-spot blood sugar testing.

The camp was supervised by Dr. Azhar Ahad and Dr. Iqra Mehraj, Medical Officers KU.
