Say outages are affecting farming activities
Bandipora, Jun 06 : Farmers in Trigam Shadipora area of Bandipora district Tuesday took to the streets today to protest against the Power Development Department (PDD).
According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), farmers are unhappy with the sudden power cuts that have been disrupting their farming activities.
They rely on electricity to operate water pumps that irrigate their fields and the lack of power is affecting their farming activities.
“Electricity is essential for us to water our crops. Without it, our fields suffer, and we don’t know what will happen to our harvests. We need the PDD to fix this problem,” said Abdul Qadir.
Another farmer, Mushtaq Ahmad, said, “Our crops are not just a source of income for us, they provide sustenance for the entire community. When we struggle, the entire area suffers. It is imperative for the authorities to address this issue and provide us with a stable electricity supply.”
The farmers are demanding that the PDD create a reliable schedule for electricity distribution so they can plan their farming activities accordingly.
An official said that concerns of farmers are being taken seriously
