Rain, snow likely in Kashmir, dry weather expected in Jammu: MeT

Srinagar, Jan 22, KDC: The Meteorological Department office on Sunday forecast widespread rain in Kashmir division and dry weather in Jammu division.

The weather was inclement in the Union Territory during the last 24 hours.

An official of the Meteorological Department told news agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC) that Valley is likely to witness rain/snow, while the weather would be dry with partly cloudy sky in Jammu division during the next 24 hours.

Srinagar recorded 1.0 degrees Celsius as minimum temperature while Pahalgam and Gulmarg recorded minus 6.3 degrees Celsius and minus 6.8 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature, he said.

In the Jammu region he said, Jammu recorded 7.1 degrees Celsius, Katra 7.6 degrees Celsius, Batote 0.7 degrees Celsius, Banihal 1.0 degrees Celsius and Bhaderwah 1.4 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature.

In Ladakh region he said, Kargil recorded minus 13.7 degrees Celsius and Leh recorded minus 15.0 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature.

The 40-day-long harsh winter period known as ‘Chillai Kalan’ will end on 31st of this month followed by 20-day-long ‘Chilai Khurd’ and 10-day-long ‘Chillai Bache. (KDC)
