DC Ganderbal reviews preparedness for conduct of Panchayat Electoral Roll in district

GANDERBAL, JANUARY 13: Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Shyambir today chaired a meeting of EROs, AEROs and PEBOs here at Mini Secretariat Ganderbal.

 During the meeting the DC took a detailed review about preparedness for smooth and successful conduct of Panchayat Electoral Roll in the district.

The DC issued instructions in light of the State Election Commission guidelines for carry out revision of Panchayat Electoral Roll with qualifying date 01.01.2024.

The field staff viz PEBOs who are VLWs/MPWs were advised by the DC to visit house to house for receiving of forms from the eligible inhabitants who have achieved the age of 18+ and are not enrolled in the electoral roll yet.

The DC directed EROs/AEROs and BDOs to remain in close coordination with the PEBOs during the revision period.

During the meeting it was revealed that the special camps will be organized on Saturday and Sundays at Polling Stations for the convenience of general public. The awareness programmes will be conducted in all blocks under SVEEP programme.

The revision will start from 15th January and shall complete on 26th of February, 2024.

Meanwhile, the drafts Electoral Roll with sufficient forms were issued to the field staff for use during revision period.

The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani, Additional Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Gulzar Ahmad, ACR, SDM Kangan, VLWs and other concerned.
