Srinagar, Mar 30 (KNO): As the sacred month of Ramadan continues, communities across the valley have witnessed a heartwarming display of unity and compassion through the emergence of ‘Street Iftaars’.

Local residents, along with various social organisations and NGOs, have come together to organise these gatherings at different places of the valley fostering a sense of togetherness and solidarity during this holiest month of the Islamic calendar (Ramadhan).

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), throughout different parts of the valley, streets have been transformed into vibrant spaces where individuals and NGO’s offer ‘Street Iftiyar’ to pedestrians and commuters to break their fast.

“These Street Iftars not only feed the body but also feed the soul, helping build relationships within the community,” said Sajad, a local.

Moreover, one of the NGOs that organized such a street Iftiaar told KNO, amidst the hustle and bustle of preparations for these gatherings, their volunteers work tirelessly to ensure that no one goes hungry during this special time.

“From arranging food to setting up iftaar around the street, close to hospitals, the spirit of Iftiaar and kindness is palpable as everyone comes together to contribute in any way they can,” said Mir Aftab, the Founder of Thrive Kashmir NGO.

Speaking about the importance of Street Iftars, he stresses inclusivity and spreading love and compassion to all members of society, regardless of background or belief. “These gatherings remind us of the values of empathy and unity that are central to Ramadan,” he added—(KNO)
