GDC Ganderbal organises ICT Tools and Techniques Workshop

Ganderbal: A two day workshop on ICT Tools and Techniques was successfully conducted by the Department of Computer Applications in collaboration with the Department of Education of Government Degree College (GDC) Ganderbal. The workshop, held on November 22-23, 2024, aimed to enhance the understanding and skills of participants in using ICT tools and technologies in modern education.

The inaugural speech was delivered by the Principal, GDC Ganderbal, Prof. Fouzia Fatima, who acknowledged the hard work of the organizing faculty and encouraged students to actively participate in workshops like these. She further draws light on emergence and convergence of new technologies in the education sector.

The workshop commenced with a welcome speech by Prof. Qurat ul Ain, head of the department of Computer Applications, who emphasized the importance of ICT tools in contemporary education. She also addressed common myths surrounding ICT, such as “ICT is only for tech experts” and “ICT lead to job losses.”

Prof. Qurat further stressed the fact that ICT tools are no longer a luxury but a necessity in modern education and given the pivotal role of ICT in modern education, it is no longer possible for educators to disregard the importance of ICT.”

Dr. Shaheena Akhtar, Head of the Department of Education, also addressed the participants, welcoming them to the workshop and stressing the importance of embracing ICT tools in education. She further said, “Embracing ICT tools in education can enhance teaching and learning outcomes and improve student engagement.”

The workshop featured a range of interactive sessions and hands-on activities, including a keynote lecture by Dr. Hafsa of the Department of Education on the “Relevance of ICT in Contemporary Times.” Other sessions covered topics such as working with PowerPoint, computer networks, e-mail, and social networking sites, online teaching and learning, and more by Dr. Saiba , Dr. Sharifa and Ms. Zainab .

The workshop aimed to enhance the understanding and skills of participants in using ICT tools and technologies in modern education. The workshop featured a range of interactive sessions and hands-on activities, covering topics such as ICT tools, online teaching and learning, and more.

The workshop emphasized the importance of embracing ICT tools in education and addressed common myths surrounding ICT. The workshop was well-received by participants, who appreciated the interactive and hands-on approach.

The workshop concluded with a valedictory session and vote of thanks by Dr. Shaheena Akhtar and Ms. Anaab acted as a rapporteur for the entire session.
