“Drug Terrorism Will Be Eradicated, Youth Must Rise Against Menace”: Dr Darakhshan Andrabi
Waqf Board Chairperson says people from all walks of life joining anti-drug movement; urges collective responsibility to safeguard future generations

Mohrefat Shabir
Srinagar, May 3 (JKNS): Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board Chairperson Darakhshan Andrabi on Sunday said that Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing a united stand against the growing menace of drug abuse, asserting that “drug terrorism” will soon be eradicated with coordinated efforts of the administration and society.
Speaking to reporters as per news agency JKNS, Andrabi said that a large number of youth, women, civil society members and traders participated in the rally flagged off by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, reflecting a strong collective resolve against the menace.
“We have moved past the dark era of gun culture and terrorism that plagued us for over three decades. Just as that phase was ending, a new threat emerged in the form of drugs targeting our youth. However, with the administration actively working to tackle the issue, we are hopeful that this crisis will end soon,” she said.
She alleged that external elements are attempting to harm the future of the youth through narco-terrorism, but asserted that such designs will not succeed. “This drug terrorism will be eliminated from its roots, and our youth will once again focus on education, picking up pens and planning their future,” she added.
Highlighting the participation of youth in the rally, Andrabi said the younger generation is now more aware and motivated. “Today’s youth in the new Jammu and Kashmir have opportunities to fulfil their dreams. If they do not rise now, then when will they? The enthusiasm and determination seen today must be shown to the entire world,” she said.
She further expressed confidence that the ongoing efforts by the civil and police administration will yield results in a short time. “Given the pace at which the administration is working, this menace will be eliminated even before expected timelines,” she said.
Calling for public participation, Andrabi urged parents, civil society and all sections of society to play an active role. “It is the responsibility of every mother, father, and citizen. Only through awareness and support to the administration can we protect our future generations,” she added. (JKNS)
